Crested Gecko vs Leopard Gecko: Size (30–45 g vs 50–80 g) & Care

Leopard geckos are the heavier species: San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance gives 50–80 g, with females 18–20 cm and males 20–28 cm long, while adult crested geckos average about 20 cm (8 in) and 30–45 g (Animal Diversity Web, ReptiFiles). Care differs more than size: crested geckos need a tall, humid enclosure and no long periods above 80°F, leopard geckos a long, dry tank with a 28–30°C basking zone, a humid hide and live insects. Both are beginner species that commonly live 15–20 years.
